Weight Loss
The best way to lose weight and maintain the weight loss is to burn more calories
than you consume.
It is a good idea to combine cardio workouts with strength training. This will
help to increase your metabolism, which will lead to weight loss when combined
with a healthy diet.
Regular cardio and aerobic workouts are usually the most effective way to
achieve weight loss. During aerobic activities like walking, running and swimming
you are continually contracting large muscle groups in the legs and arms. It
is a good idea to maintain these activities at a low to moderate intensity for
longer periods of time if you are looking to lose weight.
Adding a strength training routine to your aerobic workout will further encourage
weight loss. When you incorporate strength training you will be using the muscular
strength you already have to improve muscle mass and burn fat, and when your
muscle mass increases you will end up burning calories when you are working
out and when you are resting.
Weight lifting, rowing and calisthenics like sit-ups are all good strength
training exercises to add to your routine.
If you are serious about losing weight you should attempt to do cardio or aerobic
exercises five times a week. With strength training, especially weight lifting,
limit yourself to three times per week with one day off in between each workout
session.
Weight-loss workouts can help to prevent health problems including diabetes
and heart disease. They can also lower high blood pressure, high cholesterol
levels and high blood sugar levels. Even a small weight loss of 10 to 20 pounds
can improve your health and help you to look great.
