Green Tea Diet

There is no denying that green tea is good for you. Green tea is thought—though not yet proven—to help prevent:

  • Cancer
  • Arterial plaque
  • Hepatitis
  • Arthritis
  • Heart disease
  • High cholesterol

Interest in green tea was sparked by low rates of cancer, especially lung and prostate cancer, in Japan and China, where green tea is widely consumed. Japan has the highest cigarette smoking rate of all developed countries, yet it has the lowest rate of death by lung cancer. Current research is underway to uncover the truth behind the possible cancer-fighting benefits of green tea.

Less consensus exists over whether or not green tea is actually a weight loss agent. Some say yes, and have developed green tea pills, green tea patches and other green tea products designed to help people worldwide lose weight. Others say no; the only way to lose weight is to watch what you eat. Weight loss effects from green tea, they claim, are just coincidental.

The jury’s still out on the weight loss issue; however, everybody knows that green tea is good for you no matter how you consume it. The bottom line is, there’s no harm in trying a green tea diet product.
