Homeopathy
Homeopathy is an alternative method of treatment, considered to be a complete
medicine as it goes beyond simply treating and illness or disease. The word
homeopathy comes from the Greek “homeo,” meaning “like,” and “pathos,” meaning
“disease.” Homeopathy is a system of healing that evaluates physical symptoms
as well as emotional and mental well being, and treats the whole person with
extremely small doses of natural substances that produce symptoms similar to
those of the disease they are meant to cure in order to stimulate the body’s
immune system, effectively treating “like with like.”
Homeopathy is a holistic medicine, affecting the whole person to produce positive
psychological, emotional, and physical changes. Homeopaths gain an understanding
of a patient on all levels in order to help them reach optimal health, or “wholeness.”
Homeopathy works with the body’s systems to correct imbalances gently, and permanently.
Homeopathy is considered to be a scientific, logical, safe, quick, and effective
method of healing that treats disease from its roots and offers a permanent
cure. Homeopathy believes that disease is an affliction of mind and body, and
that individual organs are not the cause of illness but that an imbalance within
is the cause. Homeopathy does not prescribe different medicines for different
parts of the body, but instead prescribes one constitutional remedy to treat
the whole. In most cases, homeopathic and conventional treatments are compatible
and are beneficial when used together, though should only be combined while
under the care of a trained health-care practitioner.
Homeopathy is applicable to all kinds of diseases and can positively help more
than 90% of diseases we have today. Homeopathy is very effective in treating
viral infections, such as colds, flu, measles, and so on, for which there exists
no treatment in conventional medicine. Many children’s ailments, such as colds,
coughs, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, colic, bronchitis, asthma, measles, chickenpox,
and so on, can be treated with homeopathy and since homeopathic pills are sweet
in taste, children are usually very willing to take them. Homeopathy also helps
treat temperament and behavioral problems in children such as temper-tantrums,
phobias, irritability, destructiveness, thumb sucking, nail biting, bed-wetting,
and more. Homeopathy offers effective treatment for allergies of all kinds,
as well as psychosomatic disorders.
In order to receive maximum benefit from homeopathy, treatment should be obtained
in the early stages of sickness since if treatment isn’t obtained until late
in the sickness, the disease may progress to an incurable stage where homeopathy
can do little to help.
Homoeopathy provides an effective alternative to antibiotics, producing no
side effects and bringing about rapid recovery. Though homeopathy is not against
surgery, there are a number of “surgical” diseases where homeopathy can work
curatively in order to avoid surgery, such as tonsillitis, chronic ear ailments,
kidney stones, warts, cysts, and more.
Homeopathy prepares its medicine from vegetable, animal, mineral, and chemical
sources in tiny doses usually dispensed as small, sugar pills. The effectiveness
of homeopathic medicine depends on its ability to provoke a cellular reaction,
not on the strength or amount of medicine taken and only the correct dilution
with provoke this reaction. Homeopathy offers curative treatment for chronic
ailments, otherwise labeled incurable and treated with palliative care, and
provides results faster than other systems of medicine. Homeopathy is safe and
homeopathic medicines usually do not produce side effects as they stimulate
the body’s own defense mechanism and come in such minute doses that they cannot
produce any chemical action. Sometimes after beginning homeopathic treatment,
symptoms will appear to worsen for 2-3 days, however, this is a normal reaction
and a positive sign that the body is healing. Homeopathy is relatively inexpensive
as the long-term gains are invaluable.
Homeopathy was discovered by a German scientist, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, in 1796,
and has been used for 200 years. However, the principle of homeopathy, “like
cures like,” dates back to the Greek physician Hippocrates in the 5th century.
