Types of Qi Gong
Qi Gong is a term that can be applied to just about any exercise that aims
to improve levels of chi, or energy. Below are a few examples of more popular
types of Qi Gong:
· External Qi Gong. This practice is used to heal others. The practitioner
acts as a medium, channeling chi energy through his or her hands and/or eyes
to the patient. Historically, this practice has been useful since ancient Chinese
civilizations in treating ill patients.
· Yan Xin Qi Gong. This practice, named after its founder, Dr. Yan Xin,
is known as “medical Qi Gong.” The practitioner sits still, breathes deeply,
and visualizes good wishes. He or she attempts to exert harmonious control over
the diaphragm, chest walls, throat, tongue and nasal passages.
Note that Qi Gong is best practiced in a group, as each participant can benefit
from the energy of the others.
