So what exactly is Cellulite?
Well effectively Cellulite is a kind of fat tissue in the layer of the skin
just below the skins surface that contains constricting bands of connective
tissue. This connective tissue, which varies in thickness and is laced with
fat cells, is held in place by a network of fibres that protects the body, by
cushioning muscles and organs, it is also surrounded by a liquid that both nourishes
it and provides it with an effective waste system.
When all is working well in the system, waste products are removed from the
body and smooth curves result; when fats, fluids and toxins are trapped deep
in the skin, however, the connective tissue thickens and hardens, giving a dimpling
effect. As we mature, the layer of skin thins, resulting in the rippled appearance
of cellulite.
Although there are several possible explanations for the main causes of Cellulite,
the truth is that scientist and medical staffs don’t know exactly what cause
cellulite. A common myth is that being fat/overweight causes Cellulite as people
think that it is a build up of fat. This is simply not the case and being overweight
does not cause cellulite. Some ideas behind the causes of Cellulite do however
include the following, although the medical evidence for them is not 100% proven:
- Water retention problems
- Lack of proper circulation
- Dietary factors, which include food additives, chemical preservatives &
hormones
Because there is no real known medical reason for the cause of Cellulite the
treatment methods vary in both style and success. There is normal successful
method of treating cellulite, however the following at the side may give a few
suggestions as to how to try and combat Cellulite
