Kur
Kur comes from the German word “kur,” and is a planned series of spa treatments
based on natural resources such as mineral water, mud baths, algae, herbs, and
essential oils. Taking a kur can be a 10-20 day process, occurring every 2-3
months.
A kur treatment typically lasts 120 minutes, combining hydrotherapy and body
treatments. Some spas offer a thermal mineral kur, which starts off with an
organic mud wrap, continues with a hydromassage in thermal mineral water, and
ends with an essential oil aromatherapy body massage.
A kur satisfies the body’s need for minerals and nutrients while providing
the skin with optimal care, and relaxing the mind. The combination of treatments
in a kur is designed to re-mineralize, nourish, and balance the body.
A kur has been the central practice of European spas for centuries.
