Green
Green is an often political school of thought concerned with promoting environmentalism.
Green promotes recycling, biodegradable products, and limiting pollution. In
over 70 countries around the world, Green parties and political movements work
for the Earth, social justice, democracy, and nonviolence.
The first Green parties formed in Tasmania and New Zealand in 1972, and are
now found across the globe. Greens are represented in thousands of local governments,
hundreds of state and regional governments, and are part of national governments
in countries including Mexico, France, Germany, and Belgium, among others.
Green parties have formed the African Federation of Green Parties, the European
Federation of Green Parties, the Federation of Green Parties of the Americas,
and the Asia Pacific Green Network.
