Scarsdale Diet
The Scarsdale diet is a very famous low carb diet, written by Dr Herman Tarnower.
The Scarsdale diet history can be traced back to the 1970’s when after studying
other diets faults and flaw Dr Tarnower came up with the notion that most diets
were:
- Too complicated
- Too slow
- Over demanding on the person
- Had defects that turned people off them
With the knowledge that Dr Tarnower had gained through medical school, practicing
medicine, day-to-day experience and just plan common sense e came up with a
diet philosophy that he could use to develop a new diet, to help people loose
weight: the Scarsdale medical diet.
The philosophy that Dr Tarnower used to develop the origin of the scarsdale
diet is outlined below and based on the ideas that a good diet must:
Be practical
Be safe
Be satisfying
Be uncomplicated
Produce results in a reasonable time
Help develop a lifetime pattern of good eating habits
