Lacto-Ovo Vegetarians:

Many people choose to diet lacto-ovo vegetarian style. Lacto-ovo is the most popular vegetarian diet. A person can also be strictly a lacto-vegetarian (eating milk products) or an ovo-vegetarian (eating eggs). A lacto-ovo vegetarian diet, one that incorporates milk and egg products, can usually provide sufficient protein, calcium, iron, and vitamin B12, which can all be concerns for any vegetarian.

Dairy products supply protein and are a good source of calories, as well as calcium, vitamin B12, riboflavin, and vitamin D. On a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet it can be easy to meet high calorie and protein needs with the use of foods such as milkshakes, cream soups, cheeses, and commercial nutritional supplements. Eggs are also a good source of protein as part of a vegetarian diet.
