Detox Diet after Chemo
Chemo is a trying ordeal as anyone who has every undergone can attest to. Besides
the profound change to the way you feel, it also requires a massive overhaul
of your diet. One of the ways that people try to keep their energy level up
and their body as healthy (as it can be) during chemo treatment is to try and
eat a diet as low in toxins as possible. This may require some desperate measures,
but of course these are desperate times and anything that can give any advantage
in the battle with the big C is worthwhile.
Here are some dietary tips that could help you feel better and decrease the
massive amounts of chemicals that your body is already producing.
· Switch to an all-raw all vegan diet. You’ll probably never fully like it,
but you’ll like what it can do for you.
This includes:
· Fresh juices, at least a pint a day. Make sure this is made only with organic
produce. This has also given rise the the name natural liquid detox diet.
· Supplements, Spirulina with organic sulphur (MSM), vitamin C powder, and
organic cayenne. I also add nutritional yeast, beet powder, and kelp.
· Up to nine garlic cloves (raw) a day. I put in a small food processor with
parsley, lemon, and a little sea salt to cut down on smell and make it palatable.
Otherwise, two cloves a day when I think of it.
· Coenzyme Q 10 - 100 mg once a day (expensive!) Vit. D-3 - 800 IU a day. 1200
during crises. Vit. C - 2000 mg Vit E - 800 IU Selenium - 250 mcg. Melatonin
- 3 mg. Colloidal minerals - One tablespoon three times a week
· Herbs, don’t overdo these. Take a day off once in a while. Otherwise, they
can be good for crisis days.
- Chaparral tea, a truly nasty tasting concoction but very good in a detox
diet. It must be used judiciously as every person has a different reaction.
Start small and see what is right for you.
- Echinacea tincture (both kinds of Echinacea) - Because of the way she "brews"
her tincture, I cannot hope to duplicate it, so I buy from her. During crisis
time, three to six dropperfuls a day.
- Astragalus tincture - Make your own. One to two dropperfuls a day.
- Burdock root and red clover blossom tincture.
