Body wrap (herbal wrap)
A body wrap is a treatment in which strips of cloth are soaked in herbal teas
and cocooned or ‘warped’ around the body.
For thousands of year body Wraps have been used to beautify the body. A body
wrap produces therapeutic and cosmetic benefits by cleansing the body of toxins
and reducing inches.
Body wraps are great for anyone who wants to improve, tone and tighten the
look and texture of their skin, including people with loose skin from weight
loss or pregnancy. Also those who experience joint pain and inflammation will
benefit from the therapeutic effects of body wraps.
A body wrap can be a mixture of clay and natural sea salt, or a more complex
mixture of herbs and teas. Herbal Body wraps work because fluids called lymphatic
fluids surround every cell in the body.
Lymphatic fluids are designed to protect and cleanse the cells and remove any
unwanted toxins. When you have too many environmental toxins in your system,
your body will automatically increase the amount of lymphatic fluids it produces
in attempt to flush out the toxins. This increase of fluids causes the body
to appear puffy and large, and cannot be removed by exercise. These toxins are
naturally secreted out of the body through various elimination channels, including
the skin itself and Body wraps help to remove them.
Body wraps can be done at a health spa or at home. Below is a simple guide
to how to perform a body wrap at home.
The first step is to record and measure the areas in which you plan to treat.
Record your measurements on the chart provided on the back of the instruction
booklet provided with every kit.
Pour water into a slow cooker or and heat at a low setting to achieve the proper
temperature for the wraps. Take the rolled-up wraps and soak them in the hot
water for only a few minutes.
Start with the lower portions of your body and work your way up. First, you
will want to remove one of the wraps from the hot water (use kitchen tongs)
and moisten an area of the body with a hot wrap. Next, apply a thin layer of
cream to the moistened area of your body, do not rub in. Apply the cream in
an upward motion leaving a layer just as thick as a dime.
Take the wraps out of the hot water one at a time, as needed, and slowly unroll
them tightly around the area where cream has been applied. Wraps must overlap
each other, being sure that no skin is exposed. Remember to wrap the wraps tight
but not tight enough to cut off the circulation.
- Step 5: Repeat previous steps
Repeat the last 2 steps until you have wrapped the desired areas of your body.
- Step 6: Leave wraps on for 1 hour.
Leave the wraps on for a minimum of 1 hour. To enhance the results you can
do light exercises during the treatment or heat the body with a heating blanket
or a source of steam.
- Step 7: Remove wraps and Measure.
Slowly remove the wraps and wash cream off with a warm shower. You can also
wipe the excess cream off with a wet cloth. Next, you can re-measure the areas
in which you have treated, and see your inch-loss.
