Lemonade Diet
The Lemonade Diet has been a popular method for body detoxification for over
fifty years. Developed in 1941 by Dr. Stanley Burroughs, an early pioneer of
alternative healthcare, the Lemonade Diet originated from Burroughs’ desire
to find a more effective method in treating ulcers. Also known as the Lemonade
Fast, the Lemonade Diet can also be described as the Lemonade Cleansing Diet.
It is often used by individuals who have become medically sick and also by individuals
whose weight levels have increased to the point where it poses a health threat.
For proponents of the Lemonade Diet, this diet program is considered the most
effective way of achieving effective cleansing of the bowel, kidneys, liver,
and the entire body in general. The Lemonade Diet should be followed for at
least 10 days and can be extended up to 40 days. Studies have shown that the
Lemonade Diet can produce recuperative effects for individuals that have serious
medical conditions. It involves the creation of a lemonade diet recipe that
contains the following ingredients of the lemonade diet:
o 2 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice
o 2 tablespoons of maple syrup (genuine maple syrup not maple flavored sugar
syrup)
o 1/10 of a teaspoon of cayenne pepper
o Water
The lemonade diet drink is created when all of these ingredients are mixed
together in a 10-ounce glass. If it is possible, the use of organic lemons is
highly recommended. The formula is drunk 6 to 12 times per day. In conjunction
with this formula, an herbal laxative tea is drunk twice per day. This is because
the lemonade diet drink contains no fiber and the use of an herbal laxative
tea aids in the removal of waste from the colon wall.
Lemons are used because it contains a number of properties that are used for
cleansing the body, eliminating toxins, and stimulating tissue growth within
the body. The potassium in lemons is used to strengthen and energize the heart
while also stimulating the kidneys and adrenal glands. The sodium content of
lemons encourages tissue building and the phosphorous content helps to stimulate
and build the brain. The lemon contains a number of other properties that have
beneficial health effects.
Maple syrup contains a large variety of minerals and vitamins that the body
requires. There are three grades of maple syrup: Grade A, the first run which
contains a sweet taste but less minerals than other grades; Grade B, the second
run that contains a more maple taste and contains more minerals; and Grade C,
the third run that contains the most minerals but has a strong maple taste.
Although opinions vary about this, Grade B maple syrup is generally used during
the master cleansers lemonade diet as it contains such properties as: potassium,
calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron, copper, phosphorus, sulfur, chlorine, silicon,
Vitamin A, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, nicotinic acid, and
pantothenic acid. Besides the aforementioned foods, no other foods are consumed
during the duration of the Lemonade Diet.
The Lemonade Diet has been shown to generate a number of positive health benefits
such as:
o Eliminates toxins and congestions that have formed in any part of the body.
o Produce a cleaning effect on the body’s kidneys and digestive system.
o Produce a purifying effect on the glands and cells throughout the body.
o Produce a cleaning effect on the body’s joints and muscles by eliminating
all unusable waste and hardened material in that area.
o Produces a positive effect on the body’s blood stream.
o Relieves irritation and pressure in the arteries, blood vessels, and nerves.
Besides the above listed benefits, the Lemonade Diet has been shown to produce
a number of detoxification effects that can psychologically allow you to make
positive lifestyle changes. For example the Lemonade Diet and smoking are connected,
as the Lemonade Diet deprives the body from such variables as caffeine, smoking,
sugar, and drugs, thus allowing the body to wean itself off from what it had
previously been addicted to.
