Color therapy / chromatherapy

Colour Therapy is intriguing, effective and philosophical in its results. Colour is used as an aid to help the body's healing process. It is non-invasive and can be used safely on its own or alongside any other forms of therapy, complementary or traditional.

Colours have a deep impact on our lives and Colours around us can affect our moods and feelings. The effects of colour can reach deeply into our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states.

Colour as a therapy has been around since ancient Egyptian times. Referred to as Colour Therapy, Light Therapy, Chromatherapy and Colourology, it is the use of Colours to change a person’s mental health by means of coloured rooms, light bulbs, crystals, fabrics, etc.

We all use phrases such as "green with envy" and "red with anger" or "having the blues" without thinking of their origins in colour therapy.

Fundamentally Colour therapy is based on the theory that all light is a frequency and as a result each colour has a frequency of its own. Using the fact that energy cannot be destroyed merely re-distributed, each frequency has an effect on each person.

Colour experts inform us that no one room should be one colour but have a variety of Colours and therefore frequencies.

In essence Colour therapy is based on the ancient art of using colour and light to treat disease. Practitioners believe that by altering the Colours that surround us, it is possible to enhance health and well-being.

The earliest forms of therapy included the use of coloured gems and sunlight, although now a wide range of treatment options are available and many practitioners combine the use of colour with other complementary therapies such as aromatherapy, massage, reflexology, crystals and yoga.

The human body absorbs light that is made up of the colour spectrum and each colour in the spectrum has a frequency, wavelength and energy associated with it. The Colours we absorb can have an effect on our nervous system, endocrine system and as a result they affect the release of hormones and other organic substances within the human body.

Colours can also have an effect on our mental, emotional, psychological and physical states of health. In Colour therapy practitioners believe that symptoms of disease are a sign that there is a shortage of, or improper utilization of colour and light in the cells and organs of the human body. The symptoms may be due to factors such as our lifestyle, our environment, stress or inefficient amount of one particular colour frequency in our energy system. The imbalance caused by inefficient colour can be corrected by the selective use of colour frequencies.
